The Whitby Lightning Select Program gives House League players the chance to elevate their game through additional training and competitive tournament play. Tryouts for Whitby Lightning Select teams take place during the spring just before the start of the House League season, allowing players to compete for a spot on a Select team while still participating fully in their regular league schedule.

The Select Program is structured to complement House League commitments, minimizing conflicts with games and practices. Teams typically hold one additional practice or exhibition game per week, along with participation in five or more tournaments between May and August. Most tournaments are single-day events held on weekends, though some may require travel, overnight stays, or span two days depending on the location.

Select teams represent Whitby in competition against teams from other towns across Ontario, providing a fun and challenging environment for players to grow, compete, and build strong team connections.
